Games have been a centrepiece of cognition training research for a while. The N-back paradigm has probably been the most popular one to be studied in research settings. But, benefits of other games including action games and popular titles like Tetris have also been studied. The reason for the popularity of games in cognition training research is that games offer distinct advantages over other modes of training in terms of customization (multiple levels at which the game can be played enables people over a wide spectrum of cognitive skills to engage effectively) and adaptability (The difficulty level of the game can be continuously varied as player performance improves). In addition, performance improvement in games can be easily quantified and monitoring and standardization is relatively easy.

At Cognosia, games have been designed to train cognitive processes that we believe are relevant to real life outcomes. The games have been categorized iinto 5 broad categories as shown on the panel to the left. An additional consideration that we have treated very seriously is the efficiency of the games in training the relevant processes. Each of our games is short and usually take ~5 minutes to complete, with some games taking only a minute. Our daily recommendation engine provides recommendations at an individual level based on variables like- training needs of the individual, prior history and preferences. In general, we recommend ~30 minutes of play per day at least 4-5 times a week.
